Step-by-Step Procedures
To do the Brick Wall Cutting with the help of an angle grinder involves 5 major steps:
Step 1: Gather the
necessary safety gear
It is always advisable
to wear the safety gear while performing the brick
wall cutting procedures as the angle
grinders sometimes kick back, sometimes explode, and also accidentally cut or
damage the utility fittings.
So it is important to
gather all the necessary and required safety gear before you begin cutting the
brick with an angle grinder. For example:
1. Tools
2. Tough safety gloves
3. Wide vision safety
goggles (or a sturdy face mask)
4. Masonry disc
5. Vacuum hoover
6. Protective boots
7. Earplugs
8. Dust mask
9. Chalk marker
10. Utilities
Step 2: Prepare the
brick wall
This step requires you
to clean the wall first and then make the markings for the area that require
brick Wall Cutting.
If you want to cut
straight lines, then it is best if you take the level finder and use the guide
to make the accurate markings or better still to note down the accurate
readings.
If you want to contour or make asymmetrical shapes on your brick wall, then it is advisable to use the stencil to draw guiding lines.
For contour and other asymmetric shapes on the wall, use a
stencil to draw guiding lines.
Step 3: Fix the mason disc on the grinder
● The next important
step is to fix the diamond/masonry disc on the angle grinder correctly.
● Listing down the steps
for fixing the disc
● Make sure that the
grinder is not plugged into any of the power sources
● Press the lock nut to
stop the spindle cartridge from rotating
● With the help of a
spanner wrench, loosen the flange by rotating it anticlockwise
● Insert the cutting
disc once you have checked as which side goes in first
● Now hand thread the flange and hold the lock nut with the help of a non-predominant finger.
● Finally, screw the flange tightly with the help of a spanner
wrench and release the nut lock.
Step 4: Holding the grinder
The important benefit of
having an angle grinder is that it can be easily held in various arm positions.
However, there are some dangerous positions that should be totally avoided.
● Make sure that the
blade guard faces your face and your body. Further, the dominant arm should be
holding the grinder’s body and switch, whereas the non-dominant arm firmly
holds the grinder handle and support the weight.
● Release the switch and
place the grinder on the stable surface facing upwards when you are not cutting
the brick wall.
● Make sure that you adjust the grinder at the full speed before you begin cutting the wall
Step 5: Begin
cutting the brick wall
Now when everything is
set in place, you can begin cutting the brick with an angle grinder. It is
advisable to use the vacuum cleaner or a similar appliance to remove the debris
or similar material so that you can continue cutting the brick wall.
Sometimes you might also
require to remove the single brick from the wall. So, follow the below steps
for removing the single brick from the wall.
1. Mark the required
measurement with the help of chalk or a marker
2. Put on the safety or
protective gear
